Bill
Boublitz,
keyboardist for the Blue Line, was born in Baltimore, MD. His
training from early on, was on the piano. He switched to organ after hearing
Don Patterson perform in 1978. He recieved his formal training at the New England
Conservatory. Among his strong influences are Duke Ellington and Miles Davis.
In his professional career he has worked with Jimmy Witherspoon and the late
Clifford Jordan.
In 1988, he met Robben through a musician who'd heard him play. He joined the
group for a West Coast tour, followed by Europe in 1989. Additional dates in
NYC, and and East Coast tour led to his playing on the first Blueline CD, followed
by a recording for saxophonist Bob Malach. Officially joining the band 1995
Bill says, " The last months have produced some fantastic music. I know the
coming months will yield further conceptual and textural exploration. Working
with a band that is constantly evolving is the highest artistic reward. I look
forward to sharing the music with everyone."
